My Design Style

More Words Than Graphics

My designs have a certain style. They contain more words than graphics - about a 70/30 mix. This non-graphic-heavy style is motivated by what it takes to draw potential clients to your site, and to convince them to choose YOU as their coach. This is achieved by designing from your website visitor’s perspective – i.e., the potential coachee’s point of view.

Major aspects of my design:

  • Words sell. Graphics are important for creating a professional image; for making visitors feel good; for readability; and for usability. But it’s the words that convince clients that they should choose you as their coach. Thus, the websites I help clients create tend to have more words than graphics.

  • Usability is key. When it comes to user-friendliness, it’s use it or lose it. On the Web, people are impatient. If your website isn’t easy, obvious and intuitive, visitors will leave. Therefore, your website must be absolutely, positively, and idiotically, easy to use.

  • Search engines. I want clients to find you by searching online. That’s why I ensure that your website is easy for search engines to access. Instead of distracting and confusing the visitor with pop-ups and flashy design elements, my designs use simple, user-friendly code.

  • Fast loading. Clients who can afford coaching most likely have high-speed Internet access. However, there are still several compelling reasons to keep your website lickety-split for slower speeds:

    > Some affluent areas are remote and do not have high-speed access.
    > For various reasons, Internet speeds can be slow at times.
    > Hand-held devices often have slower connections.
    > Many other countries have slower Internet speeds.

Thus, I keep the design components on your website lightweight for maximum access and exposure.
  • Accessibility. Newer technologies take time to permeate the Web. That’s why I stick to very basic, simple, lightweight code to make your site easily available to as many people as possible. This means that it looks great on all browsers and on all types of computers, young and old. Simpler code also makes it easier to update your site.

  • Unique Designs.  I create original website designs based on whom you are looking to attract as clients. Unique, custom designs can connect and communicate a feeling to generate more interest and appeal.

In short, I'm more for words than graphics, though graphics do play their role. Also my design style will evolve over time as the Web grows and as my expertise expand.
